UF Women's Golf Concludes Play at Tar Heel Invitational

The UF women’s golf team finished in 15th place at the conclusion of the Tar Heel Invitational. The Gators recorded a team score of 292 (+4) Sunday, which left them with an overall team score of 881 (288-301-292, +17).
The Gators were paced by junior Evan Jensen (Belleair, Fla.) for the second day in a row as she shot a two-under 70 that gave her a 54-hole score of 214 (70-74-70, -2), putting her in a tie for 19th. Jensen began her round on the 12th hole and promptly birdied 12 and 13 to move to two-under. She went bogey-par-birdie-bogey-par-birdie from No. 16 through No. 3 to remain at two-under and finished the round with one birdie, six pars and one bogey.
“Evan had five birdies today,” Florida Head Coach Jan Dowling noted. “She played pretty solid. I watched quite a bit of her round and she had quite a few more 10 or 15-footers for birdie so she put together a very solid, boring round of golf, which is great and she had another top-20 finish. She hit a ton of fairways and a lot of greens. She did not have to get up-and-down very much and she had a lot of birdie opportunities. It was fun to watch.”
Sophomore Mia Piccio (Bacolod City, Philippines) teed off on 13 and got off to a solid start with a birdie on 16. She bogeyed 18 and No. 2 but then carded two birdies and eight pars in her final 10 holes to register a 71 (-1) for the second straight day. Her overall score of 217 (75-71-71, +1) tied her for 27th.
“Mia played well today,” Dowling said. “She made three birdies and she had quite a few chances to go really low today. She should walk away from this tournament feeling pretty good about her last two rounds.”
Andrea Watts (Bradenton, Fla.) had her best round of the Tar Heel Invitational on Sunday as she carded a one-over 73. Watts started on 15 and rebounded from a bogey at 18 with a birdie on No. 3 to get back to even par. She followed a bogey on the sixth hole with birdies on No. 8 and No. 11 to climb to one-under before recording back-to-back bogeys on 12 and 13. Her total score of 228 (75-80-73, +12) left her in a tie for 73rd.
“Yesterday she struggled off the tee with the driver and she struggled a little today but it was a lot better,” Dowling said. “Because of that, she hit a few more greens which gave her chances to make par. She grinded today and it was definitely better than the previous two days.”
Junior Isabelle Lendl (Goshen, Conn.) began play with a birdie on the par-5 13th hole and cruised along until recording her first bogey on 17. She proceeded to make bogeys on the first, fourth and ninth holes and had a triple bogey on the seventh as she concluded her day with a six-over 78 which gave her a total score of 227 (+11), leaving her in a tie for 66th.
Senior Jessica Yadloczky (Casselberry, Fla.) dropped in a birdie putt on her second hole but then made bogey on 16 and double bogeyed 17 to fall to two-over. After a birdie on No. 2 brought her back to one-over, two double bogeys on No. 5 and No. 9 respectively, along with three bogeys on eight, 10 and 12 put Yadloczky at a seven-over 79. Her cumulative score of 229 (+13) placed her in 78th for the tournament.
The Gators will be in action next at the SEC/Pac-10 Challenge in Palo Alto, Calif. from Nov. 5-7 at the Stanford Golf Course.
