The No. 12 Florida soccer team is one win away from its 12th regular-season SEC title. No. 18 South Carolina is a victory away from its first.
The teams will meet in Columbia, S.C., on Friday in a match that will decide the conference title. The Gators and Gamecocks have identical league records of 8-1-1 and share the top spot in the league standings.
"It is a little bit of a rarity (for it to come down to the final game), but I think it's fitting and exciting," UF coach Becky Burleigh said. "I think when you have two teams that, at least on paper, are evenly matched … it's a great chance for fans to get to see a terrific game."
