Four Gators Named To Coaches' Preseason All-SEC Squad

Four University of Florida men’s basketball players were selected for preseason All-Southeastern Conference honors by the league coaches on Wednesday on the eve of the Gators’ exhibition opener.

Forward Chandler Parsons was selected on the nine-man First Team (ties are not broken), while guards Kenny Boynton and Erving Walker and forward Alex Tyus each earned a spot on the Second Team. Parsons was earlier selected Preseason Second Team All-SEC by the league’s media, as was Boynton.

Florida’s four All-SEC selections were the most of any league school.

All four averaged in double-figures a year ago, as Boynton led UF in scoring at 14.0 points per game, following by Walker at 12.6, Parsons at 12.4 and Tyus at 11.8 points per game.

The 11th-ranked Gators open exhibition play tomorrow evening at home against Florida Tech (for tickets click here). The Gators return all five starters from last year’s NCAA Tournament squad and have been picked by the league’s media to win the 2011 SEC title.
