On getting ready to face Mississippi State this week:
“Obviously, a huge game this weekend. We’re 4-2. We have an upstart team coming to our stadium and we have to play very well. They had a lot of yards last week against Houston. They’re a spread option football team, throwing the ball better than they have. But we’ve got to focus on getting better and so we’ll come out Tuesday. I will make this comment, as well, that one thing around here is that we win as teammates, win championships as teammates and as a team and I guess we fight through adversity as a team.… There’s only one way to do that. Get a little tighter, get a little closer and work a little harder. That’s all we know how to do around here and that’s what we’re going to do.”

On how to snap back after two losses:
“To be honest, you keep going. Sometimes they’ll hit, sometimes they won’t. That’s football and that’s what happens when you play in such a tough conference with good teams like that. They’re going to win plays and you’re going to win plays, and that’s what happens.”
On injuries:
“It wasn’t too bad. Nothing was going to keep me from playing. There’s soreness, but it’s football, you’re always going to be sore.”

On moving the ball:
“Seventeen-play drives, 10-play drives, you know we’re moving the ball but we’re just not making the plays. They need to be made. Obviously, everyone has to get better, and we can’t freak out. We just have to stay together as a team and keep fighting because it’s not over. Blaming position groups just isn’t right. We’re all in here to have one goal, and that’s to get back to Atlanta.”

On how the team is holding together in a stressful situation:
“Like you said, it’s a stressful time. It’s kind of a delicate situation. For the older guys, it’s been two years since we lost an in-season game, back in ’08. You set a lot of goals at the beginning of the season and no matter what, we feel like we could have picked the young guys up and brought them along with us and keep going on with our winning streak and whatnot. Some things just don’t fall the way you want them to. The good thing is that we still have that spark of light at the end of the tunnel and we can still succeed in some of the goals we have set, as far as trying to get to Atlanta. Just basically playing out the rest of our season and that’s something we all take pride in. We try to show the young guys that we can do this. They know what a win feel s like and what a loss feels like, so knowing what those both feel like, there’s nowhere to go but up.”
