After suffering their third straight loss Saturday night, the Florida Gators find themselves in unfamiliar territory Sunday: out of the Associated Press Top 25 Poll.
The loss to Mississippi State and former Gators assistant Dan Mullen was enough for voters to drop Florida out of the Top 25, the first time the Gators have not been ranked since the final poll of the 2004 season. The Bulldogs, meanwhile, entered the poll at No. 24 - the first time Mississippi State has been ranked since 2001.
Oregon is the new No. 1 team in the nation following previously-top-ranked Ohio State's loss to Wisconsin. It is the first time Oregon has been ranked No. 1, making the Ducks the 43rd school to hold that distinction.
Florida State held firm at the No. 16 position, while Miami re-entered the Top 25 at No. 25.
For Florida, who has now lost consecutive home games for the first time since 2003 and suffered three consecutive losses for the first time under Urban Meyer (something that never happened even under the much-maligned Ron Zook), the questions are many heading into their bye week after losing at home to Mississippi State for the first time since 1965.
"You can point fingers all over the place," said Meyer after the game.
