LSU Loses Key Defensive End

The LSU defense suffered a significant setback when it was announced that defensive end Sam Montgomery was out for the rest of the season. The 6-4, 245-pound redshirt freshman was injured early in the Tigers win over the Tennessee Volunteers. The redshirt freshman had started all five games this season for the unbeaten men from the Bayou.

Sam Montgomery is tied for the team lead with six tackles for a loss and has been credited with two sacks. He teamed with RT Drake Nevis to give LSU a strong right side up front and making it very difficult for opponents to run the ball. The success of that effort is evidenced by the fact that LSU is allowing just 79 rushing yards per game and only 2.3 yards per run.
