Addazio 'pounces' on critics

Florida center Mike Pouncey went through a difficult season opener against Miami (Ohio) when as many as a dozen snaps went awry, putting the Florida offense in difficult down and distance situations. It seemed that those problems re-surfaced in Florida’s loss to Alabama Saturday night, but according to Gator offensive coordinator Steve Addazio that perception is not accurate.

“I went through the film like a fine-toothed comb,” Addazio said. “We had one low, one wide and one high out of 60 (plus) snaps. You never want any, but that (3 bad snaps) is no different than last year. I know there’s a lot of focus on that right now, but that’s the truth.”

Addazio, who doubles as the Gators offensive line coach, went on to demonstrate that snaps around the shoulders just to the left or right of the quarterbacks are acceptable. “That’s not a bad snap,” Addazio insisted. “Not in a shotgun offense. It never has been here and I’ve been here the whole time.”
