Men's Tennis Posts Strong Results As ITA All-American Main Draws Kick Off

Florida’s men’s tennis senior Alexandre Lacroix (Paris, France) powered through the first two rounds of the singles main draw at the ITA/D’Novo All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., hosted by the University of Tulsa, on Thursday. Lacroix then teamed up with junior Nassim Slilam (Paris, France) to get through the opening doubles round, capping a perfect day for the Gators.

Lacroix’s first day of action at the All-American was a busy one, as the nation’s ninth-ranked singles player posted a straight-sets win over North Carolina’s No. 66 Brennan Boyajian in the opening round Thursday morning. In the afternoon session, the returning All-American then rallied from a set down to knock off 51st-ranked Nick Meister of UCLA, 1-6, 6-3, 6-2, in the second round. Lacroix will meet Tennessee’s No. 21 Rhyne Williams on Friday in the Round of 16 with a spot in the quarterfinals on the line.

When first-round doubles action kicked off Thursday evening, the No. 20 duo of Lacroix and Slilam took a tight 9-7 decision against the 10th-ranked Ole Miss sibling pair of Marcel and Chris Thiemann. That sets up a second Lacroix-Williams clash on Friday as the doubles Round of 16 will feature a showdown between Florida’s duo and the Vols’ seventh-ranked team of Williams and John-Patrick Smith.
