The University of Florida women’s tennis doubles team of freshman Sofie Oyen (Leoppoldsburg, Belgium) and sophomore Allie Will (Boca Raton, Fla.) won a pair of matches and advanced to the semifinals of the consolation draw at the 2010 Riviera/ITA Women’s All American Championships held at the Riviera Country Club on Friday.
The Gator pair began the day with an 8-4 victory over Sacramento State’s 43rd-ranked Tatsiana Kapshai and Rebeca Delgado, before posting an impressive 8-3 decision against Arkon’s Harutyunyan and Jogasuria. Oyen and Will will play their semifinal match on Saturday, with the final scheduled for Sunday morning.
Also in action on Friday was the team of sophomore Lauren Embree (Marco Island, Fla.) and Joanna Mather (Duluth, Ga.), which dropped a tough 9-7 margin to Duke’s Mary Clayton and Monica Gorny and ended their run at the tournament.
