Gators will face Tide in prime time

GAINESVILLE - Florida's Oct. 2 game at Alabama will kick off at 8 p.m. on Oct. 2, following the Tennessee-LSU contest in an SEC doubleheader on CBS, Channel 10.
It will be a rematch of last season's league championship contest, won by Bama on the way to a national title.
Alabama is currently ranked No. 1 in both major polls.

HEALTH ALERTS: Florida coach Urban Meyer understands as well as anyone how stressful coaching can be. He went to the hospital after the Gators' loss to Alabama last December because of chest pains, announced the was leaving the program before the Sugar Bowl and then changed his mind the next day.
Meyer's heart fears turned out to be an esophagus issue. But he's started taking more breaks away from the game and each day reserves some time to take care of his health.

Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio, 54, was hospitalized Sunday after suffering a mild heart attack shortly after his team's overtime victory Saturday night against Notre Dame.

He underwent surgery to insert a stent into a blocked blood vessel leading to the heart, allowing better blood flow, and is expected to remain hospitalized for a few days.

At Monday's news conference for Saturday's game against Kentucky, Meyer, who turned 46 in July, said he immediately started making phone calls when he heard about Dantonio's problems. One of the things Meyer now does to help with his health is not speaking to the media on Sundays.

"I know him. I know him very well," Meyer said. "He's a great family man. You just want everyone to take care of themselves."

Meyer said everyone should be concerned with their health, not just coaches.

He paused then added, with a grin, of Michigan State's fake punt that resulted in the win: "Great freaking call. I'd never seen that before. I got nervous when I saw that."

MORE BRANTLEY: Meyer said he is "pleased'" where the team is but agreed QB John Brantley has to improve.

"I think he's got to get better," Meyer said. "There's one way that we evaluate quarterbacks here; 3-0 as a starter at Florida, that's pretty good, going on the road and winning a game. To say we're thrilled with where we're at offensively and he's the focal point of the offense, that'd be a false statement."

WILSON OUT: OL James Wilson had arthroscopic knee surgery and will be out several weeks.

HONORED: LB Jelani Jenkins was named the SEC freshman of the week after his six-tackle, one-sack effort during Saturday's 31-17 win at Tennessee.
