GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Florida tight end Jordan Reed is missing practice because of strep throat.
Coach Urban Meyer says Reed, a redshirt freshman who has a touchdown catch this season, should return to practice later this week and could play when the ninth-ranked Gators host Kentucky on Saturday.
Meyer says Reed is becoming "more and more a part of the offense."
Reed started last week's game at Tennessee and had a 22-yard catch. He missed the season opener because of a knee injury, but caught a TD pass the following week against South Florida.
Meyer says running back Emmanuel Moody also missed practice this week because of a thigh bruise. If Moody can't play against the Wildcats, Meyer says Mike Gillislee will get extra carries.
