Gators struggle in season opener

Call it The Scare at The Swamp.

There were some anxious moments Saturday before No. 4 Florida pulled away for a season-opening 34-12 win over Miami (Ohio) University at Florida Field.

An announced crowd of 90,178 witnessed the Gators struggle throughout the game. Florida fumbled the ball eight times, losing three. On offense, there were muffed snaps, botched exchanges and plays that went nowhere.
"Very disappointed with our performance," Florida coach Urban Meyer said shortly after the game. "That's probably obvious. But the good thing is, and I told our team this after the game, I don't mind coaching guys who want to work.

"We'll come back (Sunday) and work hard. That's what we do around here."
