Gators don't waste time getting back to practice

Less than 24 hours after Florida's offensive meltdown against Miami (Ohio) in The Swamp, quarterback John Brantley and center Mike Pouncey got together on their own Sunday morning in an attempt to regain the connection they so hopelessly lost Saturday.

The shotgun snap.

“We watched film and did some snapping, just the two of us,” Brantley said Monday. “We're just trying to clean some things up and make sure that doesn't happen again.”
What happened, of course, is the shotgun snap blew up in the Gators' faces time and time again in Saturday's nerve-wracking 34-12 victory.

There were more than a dozen errant snaps that led to one lost fumble, several huge losses of yardage and almost total disruption of the offense. As a result, the Gators produced
one of the most inept offensive performances in school history. Through the first three quarters, UF had only 25 yards of total offense.

UF coach Urban Meyer said the blame for the snapping problems is shared by center and quarterback.
Some snaps bounced back to Brantley. Some he had to reach for (which threw off the timing of plays). Some he simply mishandled.
