Charlie Weis, the offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs, is taking the same job with the University of Florida football team, Sporting News reported.
Weis, 54, who was hired by the National Football League team after being fired as head coach at the University of Notre Dame, will be introduced as the Gators’ offensive coordinator tomorrow, the Sporting News said, citing a person familiar with the negotiations.
Notre Dame was 35-27 during the five seasons that Weis was head coach. He also spent eight seasons on the staffs of the New York Jets and New England Patriots.
Urban Meyer yesterday coached his final game for the Gators who beat Penn State 37-24 in the Outback Bowl. Will Muschamp was hired to replace Meyers, who resigned.
