Florida finishes unranked in final football polls

For the first time in Urban Meyer’s career at Florida, the Gators finished a season unranked in the Associated Press poll. They also were unranked in the final USA Today coaches’ poll.

The Gators finished 8-5 with their win over Penn State in the Outback Bowl.

They received votes in both polls. Florida was the 32nd vote-getter in the coaches’ poll and finished 31st in the AP poll. Miami (Ohio), which lost to Florida last season, finished ahead of the Gators on both lists.

The polls had identical top-6 teams: 1. Auburn, 2. Texas Christian, 3. Oregon, 4. Stanford, 5. Ohio State, 6. Oklahoma.

Last season was Meyer’s sixth and final with the Gators. New coach Will Muschamp officially took over the program following the Outback Bowl.
