UF's Jenkins enters written plea

The attorney for Florida football player Janoris Jenkins has entered a written plea of not guilty for the senior cornerback who is facing a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge.

Huntley Johnson, Jenkins' attorney, filled the written not guilty plea with the Alachua County Court House on Jan. 28. Johnson also requested a jury trial. A pre-trial conference has been set for Feb. 28 at 9 a.m.

Jenkins was arrested on Jan. 23 at a downtown night club when police found him trying to roll a marijuana cigarette in the restroom. According to police, Jenkins had less than 20 grams of marijuana in his possession. He had been given a notice to appear in court this Thursday.
