Cullen Nabs First Offensive Player of the Week Nod in Program History

Sophomore midfielder Kitty Cullen (Rockville, Md.) has been named the American Lacrosse Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week for games played through February 20, 2011. This is the first Offensive Player of the Week honor for the Gators in program history.
Cullen, who is nabbing her first-ever Player of the Week honor, has been nearly unstoppable so far this season, having scored 14 goals on 23 shots (.609) in only three games, including a school-record tying six goals against No. 20 Denver on Sunday. She had four goals in Florida's near-upset of No. 3 UNC and matched that number again when the Gators took on in-state opponent Jacksonville last Wednesday, helping the Gators to their largest point output of the season.
The American Lacrosse Conference also recognized two student-athletes from Northwestern for their play last week. Wildcats goalkeeper Brianne LoManto was named the Defensive Player of the Week, while teammate Alyssa Leonard was tabbed as the Rookie of the Week.
Florida now focuses its attention on UMBC, who started its season with a convincing 19-7 victory over George Mason. The Gators and the Retrievers face off at 6:30 p.m. at Dizney Stadium on Wednesday evening. Gates open at 5:30 and admission is free. GatorZone.com is your source for the action, as live video and audio will be streamed with Andrew Suarez and Michael Gillespie on the call.
