Florida sophomore Bob van Overbeek (Boca Raton, Fla.) reached the singles final at the Texas Invitational, hosted by the University of Texas, with a pair of victories on Saturday.
A returning SEC All-Freshman performer, van Overbeek has posted four wins over the past two days and will face Oklahoma’s Peerakit Siributwong on Sunday for the title. The Gator sophomore holds a 27-8 career singles record and reached the quarterfinals in October’s USTA/ITA Southeast Regional Championships.
On Saturday, van Overbeek scored a 6-3, 6-2 quarterfinal win over Oklahoma’s Lawrence Formentera before topping Texas A&M’s Colin Hoover, 6-7(6), 6-3, 6-1, in the semifinals.
