Florida must find motivation with little to play for in final two games

Florida's loss to South Carolina dropped the Gators to 6-4 and, more importantly, created a new challenge for coach Urban Meyer. How will his team react without with nothing but pride left to play for after spending the last two seasons in national title hunts?
"I asked those guys to stick together and do the best we can,'' Meyer said. "A group of seniors, I get emotional with seniors because I love those guys, they made Florida football. The last several years have been pretty powerful stuff. I just look at the Ahmad Blacks and (Justin) Trattous and (Duke) Lemmens and (Mike) Pouncey and those cats right there. I just want to make sure we do the best we can for them.''
The seniors play their final home game on Saturday against Appalachian State before traveling to Florida State for the regular season finale, which will be followed by a minor bowl.
"We've got good guys,'' Meyer insisted. "We're just not a very good (team). . . . We've had not good teams before. Execution-wise we're not where we need to be. We had two pretty good games of execution and then a bunch of bad ones."
Clearly the absence of quarterback Tim Tebow has been a factor. The offense that ranked in the top 10 in scoring the past three years is mired in 50th place at 29.6 points per game.
Junior quarterback John Brantley is not suited for running the spread attack that Tebow mastered. It has forced Meyer to work in both Trey Burton and Jordan Reed at the position.
The offensive woes have led to three home losses in a season for the first time since 1986 after the team was 32-2 in Gainesville during Meyer's first five years.
"We're in uncharted waters a little bit losing some games that we . . . we've just got to rally back up,'' Meyer said.
