Saturday's game between South Carolina and Florida took on another element after the release of the college football polls Sunday.
Saturday's winner at Florida Field (7:15 p.m. ESPN) will win the SEC East and advance to the league championship game in Atlanta on the first Saturday in December.
It will also be the return of UF legend Steve Spurrier to a stadium he helped decorate with a national title, SEC championships and Heisman Trophy.
Now it's a matchup of Top 25 teams, as the Gators (6-3) returned to the rankings at No. 24 in both the USA Today coaches' and The Associated Press polls. South Carolina (6-3) dropped to No. 22 in both polls after losing to Arkansas on Saturday night.
Oregon, Auburn, Texas Christian, Boise State and Wisconsin are the Top 5 in the USA Today lineup, while the AP has Oregon, Auburn, TCU, Boise State and LSU.
Florida coach Urban Meyer, whose Gators are 4-1 against the Spurrier-coached Gamecocks, is asking Gator fans to wear blue from head to toe and bring the intensity this Saturday night.
"Let's wear blue, let's make this place nuts, let's have a lot of fun with this," Meyer said during his Sunday television show. "And let's show up and make this one they put in history books as one of the great days of Florida football history."
