Last week’s 5-3 loss to Florida State in Tampa wasn’t enough to knock Florida from the top of two weekly college baseball polls Monday. Sweeping three games from then-No. 24 Miami must carry some weight.
Florida (10-1) remains No. 1 in the Collegiate Baseball and Baseball America rankings.
The Gators return to action at 7 p.m. Tuesday to face Georgia Southern (7-5) at McKethan Stadium.
UF third baseman Zack Powers was chosen SEC Freshman of the Week after going 4-for-10 (.400) over the Gators’ four contests last week. All four of his hits were doubles and he scored twice.
Florida plays at South Florida at 7 p.m. Wednesday. That game will be televised in Gainesville on Cox channel 6.
FSU (10-1) is No. 8 in the Baseball America poll, while UM is unranked. FSU is No. 5 in the Collegiate Baseball poll.
