Florida men’s basketball head coach Billy Donovan was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches 2011 Division I All-District Coaches by the NABC on Tuesday.
Donovan, the winningest coach in UF history, has led the Gators to a 28-7 record in 2010-11 and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16. Florida’s 28 wins this season are tops in the Southeastern Conference and the Gators have reached the 28-victory plateau for just the fifth time in program history.
In 505 games, Donovan now has a 359-146 record, the second-best winning percentage (.711) in league history behind legendary Kentucky coach Adolph Rupp (.842).
All members of the NABC are expected to bring attention to the positive aspects of the sport of basketball and the role coaches play in the academic and athletic lives of today’s student-athletes.
