ATLANTA — Florida received a surprise No. 2 seed and will play No. 15 seed Cal-Santa Barbara in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Tampa.
The No. 12 Gators (26-7) will play their opening-round game Thursday at the St. Pete Times Forum. If Florida gets past Cal-Santa Barbara, it will face the winner of No. 7 seed UCLA and No. 10 seed Michigan State on Saturday.
Apparently, Florida's 70-54 loss to Kentucky in the SEC Tournament finals didn't hurt its seeding. But that didn't stop CBS sports basketball analyst Charles Barkley from referring to the Gators as "overrated."
"Florida should not be a No. 2 seed," Barkley said on the CBS Selection Show.
