The No. 5 seeded University of Florida gymnastics team appears in the evening session of the NCAA Championships’ semifinal competition on Friday, April 15 at 6 p.m. (ET). Semifinal II contains three conference champions – Alabama (Southeastern), Oregon State (Pacific 10) and Nebraska (Big 12) – with Utah and Kent State taking the other two spots. Semifinal I (which begins at noon ET) consists of defending NCAA champion UCLA, 2010 NCAA runner-up Oklahoma, Big Ten champion Michigan, Arkansas, Georgia and Illinois. The 2011 NCAA Gymnastics Championships make its first appearance in the Wolstein Center in Cleveland, Ohio from April 15-17.
The National Qualifying Score (NQS) determined the semifinal assignments of the NCAA Championships' team competition. Teams 2, 3, 6, 7, 10 and 11 were placed in Friday’s Semifinal I and teams 1, 4, 5, 8, 9 and 12 placed in Semifinal II. Florida is the No. 5 seed after its runner-up finish in the NCAA North Central Regional held Saturday, April 2 at the University of Denver.
The top three teams in each of Friday’s sessions will advance to the NCAA Super Six on Saturday, April 16 at 4 p.m. (ET), where the national team champion is determined.
