There’s
been some wild talk on Twitter today about injuries to Gators QB Jeff
Driskel, and it is difficult to discern what is true. The rumors
ranged from him having a minor injury all the way to the quarterback
race between him and Jacoby Brissett being finished.
The former
is most likely true. Multiple sources said Driskel hurt his left
(non-throwing) shoulder during practice last weekend and was held out
of practices Monday and today. A separate source said he is expected
to be back practicing Wednesday, echoing what coach Will Muschamp
said.
“Jeff
Driskel was at practice today and will be taking reps at practice on
Wednesday,” the University Athletic Association said in a statement
released this afternoon.
Driskel
and Brissett are competing to start in the season opener Sept. 1
against Bowling Green. Both players have been virtually even in all
statistical categories, Muschamp said Monday.
