Florida slides six spots in AP poll after winless week

Rankings-wise, the Gators picked a good time for a bad week. Despite two bad losses last week, Florida only dropped from No. 8 to No. 14 in the new Associated Press poll.

Holding at No. 12 will keep the Gators in contention for a top-four seed in the NCAA Tournament. Their next four games are against unranked teams.
Florida lost by 20 points at No. 1 Kentucky, then followed with a decisive home loss to unranked Tennessee. The Volunteers came to Gainesville on Saturday and won 75-50, but were up 14 points late in the game.
The Gators also did not suffer too much in the USA Today coaches’ poll, falling only from No. 7 to No. 12.
Florida faces two unranked opponents this week, starting Tuesday at Alabama (7 p.m., ESPN). The Gators are at Arkansas on Saturday.
