COLUMBIA, S.C. —
Darrin Horn was tired of his team having lackluster first halves
followed by offensive outbursts in the second half in South Carolina’s
first two SEC games, both losses.
He preached better starts this week and finally got one Saturday against No. 19 Florida when his Gamecocks shot 62.5 percent in the first half and led 41-40 heading into the locker room.
However, USC’s usual first-half woes decided to rear their ugly heads in the final 20 minutes this time.
The Gamecocks (8-9, 0-3 SEC) hit just eight second-half shots and were doomed by an 8:06 scoreless run in a 79-65 loss to the Gators (14-4, 2-1) at Colonial Life Arena.
