The University of Florida released the contract of coach Urban Meyer to the media on Friday, more than a year after disclosing details of the extension that pays Meyer $24 million over six years.
Among the details in the contract:
-- Meyer's contract runs through the 2015 season with a base salary of $250,000 and the potential to earn more than $4 million per year. Meyer's base salary increases to $275,000 starting in 2012. He makes more than $2 million per season under the activities agreement, which includes media contracts, apparel deals, etc., paid by the University Athletic Association.
-- Bonuses increased for on-field success. A trip to the SEC championship this season would have given Meyer $75,000, double the amount agreed to in the original contract. Previously, Meyer stood to get $150,000 for a national championship appearance or $250,000 for a win in that game. Going forward, he would receive both should the Gators win another title.
-- Meyer will receive a $1 million retention bonus each year he is with the Gators starting in February 2011.
Florida previously released details of Meyer's contract when he agreed to the extension after winning the 2008 national title. The entire contract, which was signed Oct. 1, 2009, was given to the media Friday under state open records laws.
The UAA pays Meyer's base pay and bonuses, and no taxpayer money is used for Meyer's compensation.
Meyer is 64-15 in six seasons at Florida. The Gators' 7-5 mark this year is the worst during his 10-year tenure as a head coach at Bowling Green, Utah and Florida.
