The
Gators combined for a 3-1 singles record during the final day of play at the
season-opening Duke Fab Four Invitational held at the Cary Tennis Center on
Sunday.
Senior
Sofie Oyen (Leopoldsburg, Belgium) was the only Gator involved in a
first-place match and fell to North Carolina’s Hayley Carter, 6-2, 6-4, in the
BLACK draw.

against Duke’s No. 24 Hanna Mar to take fifth place in the BLUE draw, while
rookie Belinda Woolcock (Victoria, Australia) needed nearly three hours
to earn fifth place in WHITE draw, as she downed William & Mary’s Leeza
Nemchinov, 7-6 (0), 4-6, 6-4.
