Too often this season, the young Florida baseball team has found ways to lose close games. That trend is changing.
They are now finding ways to win them.
UF
ran its modest, but impressive, winning streak to three games Thursday
night, clipping No. 8 South Carolina 3-2 at McKethan Stadium.
The
Gators pushed across the winning run on a throwing error in the fourth
inning and made it stand up with strong pitching by starter Jonathon
Crawford and the bullpen, as well as error-free play in the field.
It
was UF's third consecutive victory against a ranked opponent. The
Gators (17-18 overall and 6-7 in the SEC) won at No. 17 Mississippi
State on Sunday and beat No. 7 FSU in Tallahassee on Tuesday.
UF has won six of it's last eight games.
South Carolina falls to 27-8 and 8-5 in league play.
The two teams play the second game of the three-game series Friday night at 7:30.
