The
University of Florida women’s tennis team moved from fourth to second in the
latest national rankings distributed by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association
each Tuesday.
The
Gators (11-2, 4-1 SEC) defeated No. 12 Georgia, 4-1, and Tennessee, 4-0, last
week and improved their overall strength of schedule, while moving into a tie
for first in the Southeastern Conference Eastern Division standings.
Florida
plays host to No. 8 Alabama (13-1, 5-0) on Friday at 5 p.m., before
entertaining No. 18 Auburn (14-2, 4-1 SEC) on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The
Crimson Tide are tied for the overall league lead with Texas A&M (13-1,
6-0), the only team that has defeated Florida this season in SEC action.
