NASHVILLE, Tenn. — No. 2 Vanderbilt rallied to defeat Florida 5-4 Sunday and win the weekend baseball series 2-1.
The
Commodores (21-4, 5-1 SEC) took a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning
only to see the Gators (11-14, 2-4) go up 4-2 by the fourth inning
thanks in part to solo home runs by Taylor Gushue and Justin Shafer.
Vanderbilt
then scored single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings for the
win in the seven-inning game, which had a 49-minute weather delay.
Ryan
Harris (3-2), the fourth of five UF pitchers, took the loss. Brian
Miller (3-0) got the win after two innings of scoreless relief.
Florida
will play No. 12 Florida State at The Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville
at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The game will be televised on Sun Sports and can also
be heard on 103.7-FM.
FSU defeated UF 4-1 on March 12 in Gainesville and will host the Gators on April 9.
