Gators Split to Open Outdoor Season at UCF Invitational and FSU Relays

The No. 3 Florida men and No. 7 Florida women begin the 2013 outdoor season at the UCF Invitational and FSU Relays this weekend. The Gators will compete at the UCF Invitational, Friday-Saturday, March 22-23 in Orlando. Select Gator athletes will race at the FSU Relays on Friday, March 22 in Tallahassee.

Competing this weekend is 2013 SEC Champion in the men’s weight throw and a First Team All-America, David Triassi (Jacksonville, Fla.), who will be joined by fellow All-American Jeremy Postin (Andover, Kan.) in the men’s hammer throw Saturday afternoon at the UCF Invitational. A 2012 NCAA Champion in the men’s 4x4, Leonardo Seymore (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) will race in the men’s 100 meters Saturday afternoon at the UCF Invitational.

The distance corps will compete at the FSU Relays on Friday afternoon, as First Team All-America Agata Strausa (Riga, Latvia) will compete in both the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase and 1,500 meters. Also doubling up on Friday is Mark Parrish (Tampa, Fla.), who will race in the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase and 1,500 meters. 2013 SEC Champions competing at the FSU Relays include Sean Obinwa (Tampa, Fla.), who won the title in the men’s 800 meters, Mandy Perkins (Ormond Beach, Fla.) and Strausa, who were both members of the women’s distance medley relay who won the SEC title in Fayetteville.
