UF soccer captures SEC title

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The No. 11 Florida soccer team won its 12th SEC regular season title Thursday with a 3-0 win over South Carolina.

UF (14-4-1, 11-2 SEC) broke a scoreless tie when Adriana Leon scored with 25 minutes to play in the match. Annie Speese added two goals in the final 16 minutes for the final margin. Tessa Andujar and Erika Tymrak provided the assists.

Florida has won six of the last seven SEC regular-season titles. Florida also earned the No. 1 seed for the SEC Tournament, set for Wednesday-Nov. 4 in Orange Beach, Ala.

South Carolina fell to 6-9-4, 3-7.

“S-E-C! S-E-C! So proud of these Gators!!!” Florida coach Becky Burleigh wrote on her Twitter account after the match.
