The
University of Florida men’s basketball team will be making its 17th all-time
NCAA Tournament appearance when it faces No. 10 Virginia in Omaha on Friday,
the NCAA selection committee announced today.
The
Gators, who come into the NCAA Tournament with a 23-10 overall record, hold a
32-14 (.696) all-time record in NCAA Tournament play, including a 25-9 (.735)
mark under Donovan, who has led the Gators to three Final Fours and a pair of
National Championships.
UF, who
is 0-1 all-time as a No. 7 seed, will face the winner of No. 2 Missouri and No.
15 Norfolk State if they get past the Cavaliers. The winner of the Round of 32
will matchup will advance to the Sweet 16 of the West Regional in Phoenix.
The
Gators have played the Cavaliers once before in history losing 62-56 in the
1992 NIT.
