GAINESVILLE
— New Florida offensive coordinator Brent Pease is a bargain
compared to what the school paid Charlie Weis for last season's
disappointment.
Pease
is set to make at least $1.8 million over his three-year contract
with the program, according to the contract released by the
University Athletic Association on Tuesday. Weis, who left to become
the head coach at Kansas in December after delivering little or no
improvement in the offense, had a three-year deal worth $2.625
million. It was the richest contract ever given to a Gators assistant
coach.
Pease
was hired from Boise State in January and his deal with Florida is
through the 2014 season. He will make a base salary of $490,000. He
received a $100,000 signing bonus, and will be paid an additional
$100,000 at the end of the 2013 and 2014 seasons if he remains with
the program.
All
Gators coaches receive $10,000 from Nike and a vehicle.
For
comparison, head coach Will Muschamp makes roughly $2.8 million per
season.
Including
the bonuses, Pease is the highest-paid assistant on the team.
Defensive coordinator Dan Quinn signed a contract worth just over $1
million over two years.
The
UAA also released the contracts of two other new hires. Offensive
line coach Tim Davis signed for one year, $275,000. Jeff Dillman, the
Director of Strength and Conditioning, will get a base salary of
$215,000 each of the next two years, plus the Nike money and a car.
