Two traditional powerhouse teams, the Texas Longhorns and Florida Gators, find themselves in unfamiliar territory in the 2011 preseason rankings.
The Gators are ranked No. 23 and the Longhorns follow right behind them at No. 24.
Compare that to last season's preseason poll and both programs have spiraled down the rankings. At the beginning of the 2010 season, the Gators were ranked No. 3 and the Longhorns were ranked No. 4 by the coaches.
Both teams struggled last year and Texas did not even become bowl eligible. Although it's a new year, it will be a tough climb back up to the top of the rankings for these two prestigious programs.
Although they continue to recruit well and have young, talented players, each team's conference is loaded with talent this year. So it make take another year or two for Texas and Florida to regain their top spots.
But right now, they sit very low in the top 25 poll, which is something that their fans are very accustomed to.
