The 2010 Florida Gators will have five captains leading the football team out of the South End Zone tunnel a week from today prior to the season opener with Miami (Ohio).
Center Mike Pouncey (Lakeland), defensive ends Duke Lemmens (Westlake Village, Calif.) and Justin Trattou (Ramsey, N.J.), outside linebacker A.J. Jones (Tampa) and strong safety Ahmad Black (Lakeland) were named captains of the team by head football coach Urban Meyer after a vote of their teammates. All are seniors except Jones, who is a redshirt senior.
The No. 4 Gators kick off the 2010 campaign Sept. 4 against Miami at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium at noon in front of the national cameras of ESPN.
