Jenkins jumping to NFL

Much to the surprise of the Gators coaching staff, linebacker Jelani Jenkins has decided to leave Florida early for a chance at the NFL, a source close to the football team has confirmed.

Jenkins missed two games with a broken thumb this year and also was out for the Sugar Bowl after having surgery on his foot. Despite being told by the NFL he will not be selected in the first three rounds of the draft, Jenkins chose to put his name into the mix.

He joins Matt Elam, Sharrif Floyd and Jordan Reed as players who are entering the NFL Draft as juniors. Reed, ironically enough, was benched during the Sugar Bowl because of a lack of hustle, according to a source.

Defensive tackle Dominique Easley, who said at the Sugar Bowl he would have a decision to make, has told coaches he plans to stay at UF.
