No. 10/9 Florida picked up its second straight blowout road win in
league play, handing Texas A&M a 68-47 defeat at Reed Arena Thursday
night.
Mike Rosario scored 19 points to lead the Gators, while
Patric Young had 18 points and 7 rebounds and Erik Murphy had 16 points
and 7 rebounds.
The Gators grabbed an early lead and never looked
back, using a tenacious defense that held SEC Player of the Week Elston
Turner – who scored 40 points in the Aggies victory over Kentucky on
Saturday – to just 4 points. Florida forced 16 turnovers and limited the
Aggies to just 34 percent from the floor.
As a team the Gators
hit 50 percent from the floor and got nine assists to just three
turnovers from the backcourt of Scottie Wilbekin and Kenny Boynton.
Florida
built a 17-point halftime lead, closing out the opening frame on an
18-2 run to head into the locker room with a 35-18 lead and put the game
out of reach. Rosario had 14 of his 19 points in the first half to
pace the Gators.
The Gators have a quick turnaround with No. 17/16 Missouri at the O’Connell Center at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
