After
sitting atop the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Rankings for the
first three listings, the Florida women’s tennis team slid to No. 2 in this
week’s poll that was released on Tuesday.
The
ITA Team Rankings will be released every Tuesday afternoon for the remainder of
the season, while the individual national singles and doubles rankings will be
released every-other week beginning February 12.
In
the second ITA National Singles Rankings, also released on Tuesday, five Gators
were listed, as was one doubles team.
Senior
Lauren Embree headlines the Gators in the national singles rankings, earning
the No. 4 spot and tying her career-high in the collegiate ranking systems.
Embree also was ranked fourth in the 2010 Fall rankings entering her sophomore
year.
Sofie
Oyen
is No. 9, while Danielle Collins is No. 44, Alexandra Cercone is
No. 116 and Caroline Hitimana is No. 121.
On
the doubles court, the Florida pair of Collins and Embree checked in at No. 54.
The
second-ranked Gators (3-0) return to action on Sunday, when the team takes on
fourth-ranked Duke in Durham, before battling top-ranked North Carolina on
Monday afternoon.
