FSU baseball, now No. 1 in the country, faces former No. 1 Florida Gators Tuesday

GAINESVILLE — Florida's recent troubles cost the Gators the No. 1 spot in Baseball America's latest poll.

The Gators (25-7) had been No. 1 since the pre-season before falling to No. 7 on Monday after losing two out of three at home against LSU last week. LSU (25-7) moved up from No. 12 to No. 5.

The SEC has five teams ranked in the top 11: No. 3 Kentucky, No. 5 LSU, No. 7 Florida, No. 10 South Carolina and No. 11 Arkansas.

Florida opened the season by winning 20 of its first 21 games, but is 5-6 in its past 11. The Gators lost a series at Ole Miss and home against LSU, plus a game against North Florida.

The new No. 1 is Florida State, which has won 13 of 16 over the past three weeks.

Florida beat the Seminoles (27-5) in their first two meetings this season, and they play again tonight in Tallahassee (6 p.m.). The Gators then head to Tennessee for a three-game series beginning Friday.
