Both of South Carolina’s goals came off
headers. The golden goal came at 108:36 when Taylor Leach headed in Chelsea
Drennan’s corner kick to give USC its second overtime win in the all-time
25-match series between the teams. The Gamecocks scored in the 37th minute
when the lofted ball sent by Christine Watts from the top of the Gators’
defensive third was headed in by Bay Daniel from eight yards.
The Gators tied the match just before
halftime. With the opening half clock waning, Havana
Solaun took
the ball end line. USC goalkeeper Sabrina D’Angelo got her hands on it but
couldn’t cleanly control the ball and it bounced just above the six-yard box.
Freshman Savannah
Jordan’s left foot placed the ball in the goal with just 31
seconds remaining in the half.
