University
of Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel underwent appendectomy surgery on Tuesday
at UF Health Shands Hospital, head coach Will Muschamp announced.
“Jeff
had acute appendicitis and fortunately the medical staff caught it very
quickly,” said Muschamp. “His surgery went well and how long he is out will be
determined by how his body responds, which could be two weeks.”
Driskel,
a 6-4, 237-pound junior from Oviedo, is the Gators’ starting quarterback
heading into the 2013 season. He had a 10-2 record in 2012 as the starting
quarterback and passed for 1,646 yards with 12 touchdowns and five
interceptions. Driskel also had over 400 rushing yards with four touchdowns on
the ground last year.
