Softball a No. 5 seed, will host NCAA regional

The Florida softball team earned the No. 5 seed in the 2012 NCAA softball tournament and will be hosting an NCAA Regional for the 10th consecutive season.
The Gators, who fell in the SEC title game on Sunday, will face Florida Gulf Coast on Friday at 6 p.m. The Eagles, who won the Atlantic Sun title, are led by former Santa Fe star in freshman Shelby Morgan, who was named the A-Sun tournament MVP.
UCF, led by former Lafayette standout Natalie Land will face USF at 3:30 p.m. in the other first-round game at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium. The winners of the two opening-round games will meet at 1 p.m. on Saturday, while the losers of the first two contests will face off in an elimination game at 3:30 p.m. A total of seven games could be played at the event which concludes on Sunday.
